Powerful, angry and tempermetal, Carlos Solis is the kind of man you'd be terrified to see your daughter marry. Yet Carlos has a soft side too. He seldom puts his feelings into words, but he shows Gabrielle his love by buying her things, like a bracelet or a Maserati, and believes these gestures are meaningful. He is slowly realizing that Gabrielle does not love him, and at the end of season one, he learns that she has had an affair with John, their teenage gardener.
As their relationship evolved over the first season, both Gabrielle snd Carlos showed they were forces to be reckoned with. Their temporary emotional reunion was followed by a scary and violent fight.
"The violence is connected to this very firey, spicy realtionship," says Cherry "where the passion can go the wrong way or the right way, depending upon the mood." It is unclear how these two mercurial souls will find a way to raise a child.
