After her addiction to her kid's ADD medication, Lynette hires this wholesome nanny away from her employer. Lynette finally has relief, until Tom realizes he's attracted to Claire and the Scavo's decide she must hit the road.
Doug Savant: Marla Sokoloff is such a sweet, lovely young lady. She was rightfully demure and was not used to having other characters making comments about her physical being. There are these shots where Tom is ogling her breasts. And when we were shooting it I said, " Well, if you could find a little spot on the table and really rub it, it would cause things to shake a little." She didn't think that was very funny!
Marc Cherry: Originally, we were going to do a whole different storyline with a nanny who turns out to be a lesbian and falls in love with Lynette, but she's such a good nanny Lynette doesn't want to let her go. Once we cast Marla and we started shooting the first of her two episodes, we realizeed that she was so unrelentingly straight that it suddenly seemed false to us. We switched it around so that she was just a normal girl and Tom gets a crush on her. We might still do the other storyline in a future season.
