CORPORATE EXECUTIVE, STAY-AT-HOME MOM & PRIVATE SCHOOL PARENT
Adair dresses Lynette according to the three different worlds in which she treads: coporate exec (her former life), stay-at-home mom and well dressed private school mom. "In her previous world," says Adair, "she was a high-powered executive, she wasn't married, she knew how to dress, she knew how to win the deals, and she was invincible. We get glimpses of that when she has to dress up." For this mode, Adiar uses designers like Armarni, Malone, and Dolce and Gabbana. "When we think of Dolce and Gabbana," Adair pints out, "you think of the more flashier, more flamboyant things, but they also cut beautifully tailored, very simple-looking suits."

Adair calls the second world "private mom":that of an overwhelmed mother who doesn't have the time to put outfits together. "Because Felicity is such a conscientious actress and because she is also a mother in real life, she pays great attention to detail-we'll put baby food on clothes, and stains, and make them look crumpled and rumpled. It's all about comfort and the fact that by the time she's got everybody else in the day she doesn't have enough time for herself." For mother mode, Lynette wears a lot of J. Crew, frequently borrowing shirts we've seen Tom wear in other scenes.

The third world is the one that emerged in the second half of Season one: the more high-pressure world of a prestigious private school. "She's trying to find a way to fit in," says Adair. "That tends to be skirts and cardigans, things that are looking safe, but still practical in terms of putting them on. She'll still slip into her Taryn Rose slides." For public mom, Adair makes many of the skirts herself, and also uses Three dot and simple Anthropoligie pieces.

Thogh we seldom get to see Lynette in dressy clothing, Adair says she enjoys it when she can glam Huffman up. "Felicity has an amazing body. When we show her off, I really go to the nines, because she's just flawless!"
