The Scavo's mean older neighbor, she grows angry when she learns the boys have been stealing things from her home. She and Lynette keep butting heads, but one day when the boys go over to apologize she tells them about her own son, who died when he was young. It turned out the neighborhood sourpass has a reason for being the curmudgeon she is and is capable of much greater warmth and depth than Lynette could know. Later, when Mrs. McCluskey's health problems get worse, Lynette finds herself acting as a an unlikely benefactor-and ev en a friend.

Marc Cherry: We were talking about doing a story with a hideous neighbor who doesn't like Lynette's kids and one of the writers came up with the idea that her own children had died, so that's why you're hard on kids. Kathryn Joosten was just a last minute replacement. We had another actress playing the part, but we had to fire her. Kathryn turned out to be spectacular.
