Noah is Dierdre's father, and has hired Mike to find out what happened to her. He pays Mike a small salary to investigate the murder, and when Mike goofs by getting shot in the middle of a break-in, Noah warns him not to make any more mistakes. Noah is a father obsessed with finding out what happened to his daughter. He evens goes as far as to bribe the detective when Mike is brought in for questioning in Mrs. Huber's murder-just so Mike can get on with his work. And when he learns that Dierdre has been killed, he weeps for his lost daughter.
James Denton: Bob Gunton is such an interesting actor, and every take is different. Just watching him, you can get lost in the scene, which is a lot of fun. And we had a really great scene in the graveyard where he's crying about his daughter, and it was really touching. It's also more fun to play a different side of Mike. It's only with Bob that I get to play the real Mike. Noah knows Mike and is on to Mike, and Mike's honest with him.
" I'll be dead inside a year. I've got bigger things to worry about than my waistline!"
Marc Cherry: We named this character Noah, after Noah Cross, John Huston's character in Chinatown. We knew we needed a heavy hitter for that part, and we were really l;ucky that Bob Gunton was available. I'm a big fan of Bob Gunton-he was the original Juan Peron in Evita and i'm all about musical theater.
